TruSchool is not old school. It is not New School.
But wait.. is it both?
I can tell you what TruSchool is not more than I can tell you what it is... In a new generation with budding and changing hip-hop scenes; generating across the world in a evolving genre of music. You have many "sub genres" if you will. Lately Ive been hearing the words "Frat Rap" and "Hip-Pop" being tossed around and used on twitters to facebooks to real life! Its proof of the severe change of the pop-culture in hip-hop which started off as the rebel "sub-culture". Hip-Hop is getting older. Lets face it; its true. However with age we are seeing different styles of the original essence still being followed even in "2010". Its crazy how many people have contributed their styles to this music in good ways and to some "bad". Sure we've seen hip-hops ups and downs throughout the years from the "death of the auto-tune" to even gangsta rap/g funk era to this whole electro-rap/dubhop music which I personally 50% co-sign.. this is for another post. "TruSchool" is simply music that is "true"- similar to Bun B/UGK's "Trill" which is True and Real; "TruSchool" embodies emcees who have lyrical artistry which portrays them as being themselves, doing thier thing. Nothing over glamorized or poppy, just Skill, and Hip-Hop. That is my definition of TruSchool.
I have attached from top to bottom only a couple of good examples of "TruSchool" emcees: "Rakim" (Top) because he is one of the first rappers to change the game lyrically for "TruSchool" artists and for the movement itself. and "Mac Miller" and "Termanology" because they are two of the newest up and coming emcees out of the Northeast who are bodying thier own movements which is well.. "TruSchool"...
If your a fan of Hip-Hop music maybe some of your favorite rappers are "TruSchool" emcees. and if you are an Artist yourself; ask yourself if you are part of the "TruSchool Movement".
i luv truschool
