[Music Video] Rite Hook - Smash Em

Rite Hook is sick. Very raw style that proves his art behind his lyrical styling. Rite's been on the scene for a minute now teamed up with local Boston promoter Leedz Edutainment. This video has a independent film beginning and breaks into the music. I love it, very entertaining start. A wicked must see.. If I was a new half-ass college frat rapper i'd be on the lookout for Rite. Its good to have a real emcee like Rite Hook defending the TruSchool values unknowingly.. Frat rap or Gangsta Rap, the music should always stay true to Hip-Hop. TruSchool Soldiers peep this MC's game! This is the first track off "The Write Off Vol. 2" avail for FREE DOWNLOAD @ www.leedzedutainment.com

[MUSIC VIDEO] - Mac Miller - "Knock Knock"

This kid has his visuals down real tight. After the video for "Nikes on My Feet" I was hooked. In this video the director Rex Arrow goes for a new school upbeat video paying homage creatively to the beats almost 1940's art deco almost do-wop style. Enjoy Mac is most certainly killing the underground new school game! TruSchool to the Max!

[MIXTAPE] Lyrical Manslaughter - #TruSchool

#TRUSCHOOL: This "mixtape" or compilation album; however you choose to see it is a real great summary of the music coming out of the northeast/us/world underground hip-hop scene right now. With tracks like "Us vs. Them" from Typhon X and "This is Hip-Hop" from local Lawrence Ma, native and local legend Krumbsnatcha you get a real vibe to the authentic hip-hop value all the artists featured in this project embody fully when they drop thier records. Speaking of Lawrence there is also an exclusive freestyle from local 978 legend Termanology on track 10 worth noting. Blaine Productions did a good job picking the talent and music. I enjoyed each track throughly and none of the tracks bored me at all. Every emcee came hard on record and did their job. I was also very interested and intrigued by his selection of international talent. On track 7 you get to hear two emcees from "Croatia" a small country in the Mediterranean sea all the way in Europe! -Plus on track 17. Slovenian FEMALE emcee Liil Leah kills the flow on her song (in Croation) - Sve se vrati sve se plati (and in English: What Goes Around Comes Back Around). Can't forget Ireland emcee Rob Kelly on track 12.!! This is unlike any other project because of that fact. Its a connection of emcees worldwide and regionally/nationally!!! Lowell emcee Myster DL has two solid tracks on this project; a freestyle on track 3. and Eyes Don't Lie, track 11. He being the owner of Ill Mannered Records is worth noting because of his help on this project from the design to mixing. Him and Blaine/Fly Predator Ent. are a great mixtape duo. This whole project covers every angle. Well worth a good listen.. The title stays "Tru" to its name "Lyrical Manslaughter" indeed.

What is TruSchool?

TruSchool is not old school. It is not New School.

But wait.. is it both?

I can tell you what TruSchool is not more than I can tell you what it is... In a new generation with budding and changing hip-hop scenes; generating across the world in a evolving genre of music. You have many "sub genres" if you will. Lately Ive been hearing the words "Frat Rap" and "Hip-Pop" being tossed around and used on twitters to facebooks to real life! Its proof of the severe change of the pop-culture in hip-hop which started off as the rebel "sub-culture". Hip-Hop is getting older. Lets face it; its true. However with age we are seeing different styles of the original essence still being followed even in "2010". Its crazy how many people have contributed their styles to this music in good ways and to some "bad". Sure we've seen hip-hops ups and downs throughout the years from the "death of the auto-tune" to even gangsta rap/g funk era to this whole electro-rap/dubhop music which I personally 50% co-sign.. this is for another post. "TruSchool" is simply music that is "true"- similar to Bun B/UGK's "Trill" which is True and Real; "TruSchool" embodies emcees who have lyrical artistry which portrays them as being themselves, doing thier thing. Nothing over glamorized or poppy, just Skill, and Hip-Hop. That is my definition of TruSchool.

I have attached from top to bottom only a couple of good examples of "TruSchool" emcees: "Rakim" (Top) because he is one of the first rappers to change the game lyrically for "TruSchool" artists and for the movement itself. and "Mac Miller" and "Termanology" because they are two of the newest up and coming emcees out of the Northeast who are bodying thier own movements which is well.. "TruSchool"...

If your a fan of Hip-Hop music maybe some of your favorite rappers are "TruSchool" emcees. and if you are an Artist yourself; ask yourself if you are part of the "TruSchool Movement".
